Frequently asked about Custom Web & Application Development

When should we build custom instead of buying SaaS?
Three tests — if you fail any two, custom is probably the right call. (1) Is your workflow a competitive moat? If your team's way of doing X is what makes you different from competitors, you don't want a SaaS that flattens it to industry-average. (2) Does off-the-shelf require you to bend the business? Every SaaS comes with implicit assumptions about how you operate. If accommodating them means re-engineering 5+ internal processes, custom is often cheaper over 3 years. (3) Is your integration footprint deep? If you need 8+ system integrations behind the UI (ERP, CRM, identity, billing, fulfillment, ticketing, etc.), a SaaS often forces you into half-built integration patterns. Custom controls them end-to-end.
What's your typical project shape?
An 8 – 24 week first release, followed by quarterly incremental delivery. We don't believe in 9-month waterfalls — the world changes underneath them. Discovery + design in weeks 1 – 3, first usable thin slice in production by week 8, then we ship every 2 weeks. The first release covers the workflow's critical path; subsequent quarters add depth.
Do you keep the source code?
No — you do. Source goes into your GitHub / GitLab / Azure DevOps repo from week 1. We deploy from your CI / CD. If you decide to take Day-2 in-house later, we hand over runbooks, on-call docs and a 4-week shadow period. We don't sell lock-in.
How does Day-2 operations work?
Day-2 is included by default — once the product is in production, we run on-call rotation (SG hours + after-hours escalation), monthly cost reviews, quarterly architecture reviews, and a small backlog of incremental improvements we ship every 2 weeks. Pricing is a flat monthly retainer scoped to your traffic + complexity, not per-incident.
If we plan to apply for EDG, can you help?

What if our existing IT team wants to be involved?
Welcome. We've done this both ways — building solo, and building alongside an in-house team where we own architecture + senior engineering and they own product / domain expertise. Tell us which model fits and we'll structure the engagement accordingly. The handover-to-internal-ownership model often saves you significantly on Day-2.
